Demo and playtest

Quick answer

Truckful ran a demo from October 2025, a Demo 2.0 for Steam Next Fest in February 2026 and a playtest in July 2026. Players reported a garage soft-lock, no language switching, a missing horn and ultrawide misalignment; the studio confirmed the horn bug and rebalanced the Ghost Truck.

The demo timeline

Truckful was playable in public for roughly ten months before launch. From the studio's own news feed:

DateBuild

12 Feb 2026Demo 2.0 announced for Steam Next Fest

As of 2 October 2026 the store page carries no demo install link — the public demo window has closed ahead of launch on 9 October.

What the demo actually contained

Short and complete: the opening village and garage, a first set of upgrades, two-way cargo deliveries, and the valley around the starting town. Russian-language feedback in the demo thread ("Круто, но очень мало :(" — cool, but very short) put one player's first pass at about fifteen minutes when they were not rushing, which matches the studio's own framing of it as a taste rather than a slice.

The recurring complaint from the demo threads is not that there was too little of it — it is that the opening does not tell you where to go next, and that the physics is unforgiving before you own handling upgrades. The studio's FAQ effectively answers the first half of this with the notebook and save shrines, and the cargo page is the second half.

What players reported

The Steam forum tells you more about the demo than any marketing copy. The threads that matter:

ThreadThe report
"Horn? Where is horn? Short answer ... it's a bug!"A player could not find the horn and left a bad impression. The studio confirmed it was a bug
"I can't get out of the garage (demo)"Bought upgrades, then could not exit the garage — no button or key worked
"Ridiculous"The same problem, from a different player: stuck in the garage because nothing would leave the upgrade screen
"Playted the demo for 40 min then gave up"Fun at first, then the game stopped telling the player where to go; drove to a hotel with a cop car
"Can I change the language in the demo?"No language switcher in the demo build
"Ultrawide Fix for Demo"Dialogue boxes and the speedometer positioned incorrectly on ultrawide
"Please add full Dualshock/Dualsense support"Works, but prompts require mapping buttons by hand
"Круто, но очень мало :("Short but liked; the player wanted more

Two are worth underlining because the studio took responsibility for them: the horn (confirmed bug) and the garage soft-lock, which several players hit independently.

What the studio said changed

The pre-launch FAQ is where the post-demo fixes are listed. It covers:

  • Ghost Truck punishment reduced — getting hit no longer immediately restarts the level, and lost cargo is recoverable during the escape. Full detail on the Ghost Truck page.
  • Playtest build — Community Update #13 (July 2026) announced a Steam playtest alongside a development update.
  • Steam Deck — the FAQ reiterates the Verified target and the 40–60fps expectation; see settings and performance.
