The Ghost Truck
The Ghost Truck is a recurring hazard that appears during set sequences. Getting hit no longer restarts the level immediately, and you can still pick up cargo you dropped while escaping. Think Dredge-style evasion, not combat.

What it is
The studio's explanation, from the pre-launch FAQ: "Yes, however it's more of a recurring hazard to evade, rather than a boss to face. The Ghost Truck appears during certain sequences, creating tense chases and forcing quick decisions."
So it is not a fight, and it is not a scripted death. It is a hazard that arrives on specific routes, and the correct response is always the same: keep moving, keep the cargo, get out.
What changed after demo feedback
The same FAQ answer carries the balance change, and it matters more than any tactic below:
"Recent updates made these encounters less punishing: getting hit no longer immediately restarts the level and players can still pick up any lost cargo trying to escape the Ghost Truck."
Read that as three separate fixes:
- Losing the encounter is no longer an instant reset, so an encounter's cost is now time and cargo condition rather than the whole run.
- Lost cargo is recoverable. If you drop the load while escaping, it is still there to pick back up.
- The escape itself is the objective, not beating the thing.
Escaping it: what the design implies
No chase mechanics have been documented in detail, so the tactics below follow from confirmed systems rather than from a guide that does not exist yet.
- Drop nothing you do not have to. With cargo recoverable, the temptation to dump the bed is smaller than it looks — you will have to drive back for it.
- Your upgrades are your escape plan. Handling and mobility upgrade grip and steering response; boosters give top-end speed. The FAQ treats upgrades as how you solve traversal, and a chase is traversal under pressure. See the upgrades page.
- Sticky cargo has a second job. Every upgrade list entry that stops the load sliding also prevents the Ghost Truck's whole purpose — a chase that empties your bed through physics. The cargo page covers the stacking habits.
- Route choice beats speed. The valley is full of shortcuts and hidden roads by design. A chase on a bad surface is a chase you lose.
- Do not fight it. The FAQ's own comparison for the game's tense encounters is Dredge — evasion as a system. There is no weapon in the confirmed upgrade list.
How it fits the difficulty curve
The studio's difficulty answer (FAQ 13) puts supernatural encounters alongside difficult terrain, physics cargo and environmental hazards as the sources of tension, and says that most of the game is cozy. That is the balance to expect: long calm drives with a short, sharp burst of "where is that sound coming from".
Commonly asked, still unanswered
- Whether there is more than one hazard type, or whether the Ghost Truck escalates later in the story.
- Whether encounters can be avoided entirely by route choice.
- Whether the mobile version on Google Play carries the same encounters.
All three are open as of 2 October 2026. They are on the list to check the moment the build is public, along with the rest of the launch details.
