Truckful Guide

Truckful FAQ

Quick answer

Truckful is a semi-open valley, not an open world. Cargo is physics-driven and you pack it yourself. The forest is the story, the Ghost Truck is a hazard to evade rather than a boss, and no, you cannot run over the sheep.

The short answers

MythicOwl published a fifteen-question FAQ on 22 September 2026 to answer what the community kept asking. Below is what it says, in plain English, with the studio's own wording kept where it matters.

What is Truckful? A single-player delivery adventure. You drive an old pickup through peaceful-looking valleys, run errands for villagers, and uncover the mystery around the nearby ancient forest. The studio is explicit that it is not a traditional trucking simulator.

Is it open world? Not quite, and the studio says so directly: one large interconnected valley with multiple regions, shortcuts and hidden roads. It calls it a semi-open world — new routes become accessible as your truck gains upgrades.

Can I upgrade the pickup? Yes. Confirmed: increased cargo capacity, better handling and mobility, cosmetic paint jobs, and special equipment — boosters, sticky cargo, and a snorkel for water crossings. Upgrades are earned through exploration and missions.

Do I have to drive carefully? Both playstyles work. Speed helps on timed deliveries, but rough terrain, sharp turns and bumps will send cargo flying. The studio frames every route as a small puzzle balancing efficiency against stability.

What is the forest about? It is the story. Local legends warn everyone away, villagers talk about strange events, and deliveries reveal what happened. It is told through characters, exploration and environmental storytelling — not jump-scare horror.

Is the Ghost Truck an enemy? Yes, but a recurring hazard to evade rather than a boss to fight. It appears during certain sequences and forces quick decisions. Notably, encounters were made less punishing: getting hit no longer immediately restarts the level, and players can still pick up cargo they dropped while escaping.

Do I need to worry about getting lost? You can get lost, and that is fine. The full game adds a multi-tool notebook with a map, an objectives tracker and found collectibles, plus save shrines.

Can I style the truck? Yes — multiple paint colours, with ornaments and stickers planned.

Can I run over the sheep? No. The studio singles this out as the most repeated question: you cannot run over the sheep or the boars, though one specific upgrade lets you "do almost that".

The detail answers

QuestionAnswer from the 22 September FAQ
Who are the villagers?Mechanics, scrapyard owners, bar hosts, hotel staff and other locals. They are not just quest givers — they provide upgrades, reveal lore and connect the mystery
How does scrap work?It is a second progression currency. Money comes from deliveries; scrap is earned by discovering abandoned machinery and recyclable objects, then converted into upgrade materials at Red's Scrapyard
What environments are there?Quiet towns, dense forest, marshes, wetlands and swamps, tunnels and caves, a scrapyard, dusty hills and abandoned regions — each with different navigation challenges
How hard is it overall?Mostly cozy, with tension from terrain, physics cargo, supernatural encounters and environmental hazards. Encounters are evasion-based, "similar to Dredge"
Will it run on Steam Deck and low-end PCs?The studio optimised specifically for Linux-based handhelds and lower-end hardware. It aims for Steam Deck Verified at launch and expects 40–60fps in most scenes

Where the answers came from

  • The fifteen-question FAQ: Community Update #14 — Frequently Asked Questions, 22 September 2026, on the game's Steam news feed.
  • The Steam Deck target was also stated in a pinned Steam discussion, where the community manager said the studio is "on the right track" to get Verified with stable 60fps on highest settings.
